Accessibility

What the kit's checks verify before a release, and what they don't cover yet.

What is checked

WCAG 2.2 AA, checked with axe
Every example on these pages is checked with axe against WCAG 2.2 A and AA in both themes, in English and Russian. A serious or critical finding fails the check.
Keyboard and visible focus
A keyboard walk tabs through every example, up to twelve stops, in Paper and English: focus stays inside the example and is visible at each stop. Base UI gives the controls their roles and keys.
Contrast
Text tokens meet 4.5:1 on the page background in both themes, and white text meets 4.5:1 on the success and danger fills.
Not by colour alone
Status comes with a glyph or words: a diff marks its lines with + and −, and toasts and alerts carry an icon.
Reduced motion
Motion follows the system's reduced-motion setting, and only opacity, transforms and filters animate, so nothing reflows while it moves.
Input methods
Enter waits while an input method is still composing a word, in every control that sends on Enter.

Right to left

Layouts use logical properties, so they mirror in a right-to-left language. The components whose layout turns with the writing direction (sliders, switches, tabs, sheets, splitters, progress) are checked right to left. No right-to-left language table ships yet.

Languages and formatting

Numbers, money, dates and plurals format through the browser's Intl, in the locale you pass. Truncation counts graphemes, so an emoji or an accented letter isn't cut in half. The kit ships its own words in English and Russian.
